I don’t know how many people care about this, but I’ve finally gotten my fat butt in gear and updated the archive playlists for my show at WFMU.
If you’ve been wondering what song I was mumbling about when you streamed the show, the answers are now…

A deft summation of the Bush/Libby scandal

This sums up my feelings rather well; Ron Fournier kicks ass in all directions in this short but blistering AP opinion piece.
The hypocrisy is unpardonable. President Bush’s decision to commute the sentence of a convicted liar brought out the worst in both parties and politics.
In keeping I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby out of jail, Bush defied his promise to hold wrongdoers accountable and…

How is it that op-ed pieces in favor of dictatiorial governments become featured in national newspapers? How do “Congressional fact-finding tours” wind up in Stalinist hellholes like Turkmenistan?
Ken Silverstein decided to find out. He printed up a few sheets of stationery representing The Maldon Group, a fictional consulting firm allegedly representing the government of Turkmenistan, a…

Tanya J. Andersen and her daughter Kylee were put through the mill by the RIAA and their “investigators”, who accused the Andersens of a fictitious downloading crime. Unlike most of the victims of this group of musical Republicans, Ms. Andersen successfully fought the RIAA to a standstill, and now she’s countersuing them under the RICO act, among other statutes.
The RIAA, of course, in their…

I’m working on my radio show for WFMU; this program’s about the Mardis Gras Indians of New Orleans.
To do a feeble job at summing up a wonderful, complex story in a few words: Some of the most compelling dance music in the world (in my opinion), performed by African-Americans dressed in wild, home-made costumes (see photo).
In producing the show, I find myself revisiting for the millionth…

In a time when Bush thugs are hailed as heroes for lying to Congress, and bimbo babes are heroes for getting a makeover on Rachael Ray, it’s rare to meet the real thing.
Meet Army Major General Antonio M. Taguba. He led the high-level investigation of the Abu Ghraib scandal – the scandal where Rumsfeld and his fellow war criminals lied to Congress about knowing anything about torture in Iraq…

Republicans shocked – shocked! – to find that recipients of religious “grants” are thieves (updated)
- Add Comment
- Monday 18th June 2007
So here’s the way it works:
In order to reinforce their position with right-wing religious voters, the Republicans decided to “dismantle big government programs” that did dumb stuff like distributing tax money to poor people for health care and information, and providing aid and health facilities around the world.
Instead, they – surprise! – gave your tax money and equipment to…

…they’re completely incompetent when it comes to administration. From Katrina, to FDA food screening, to the all new, super-duper, Homeland Security passport regulations, if there’s no bribery, campaign contributions, lying, or illegal political advantage involved, they don’t have a clue.
From the NY Times:
Responding to anguished travelers at risk of being grounded by a broken passport…
