Pearl Jam Webcast Censored by AT&T Over Political Content (UPDATED)

Pearl Jam Webcast Censored by AT&T Over Political Content (UPDATED)The latest entry on pearljam.com announces that a live webcast of theirs from Lollapalooza had lyrics derogatory to George Bush edited out of the performance without Pearl Jam’s knowledge or pemission.

During the performance of “Daughter” the following lyrics were sung to the tune of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall” but were cut from the webcast:

- “George Bush, leave this world alone.” (the second time it was sung); and

- “George Bush find yourself another home.”

This, of course, troubles us as artists but also as citizens concerned with the issue of censorship and the increasingly consolidated control of the media.

This actually seems to have made a bit of news;

Wwll, what do you know? AT&T admits they’ve done it before.

And I’ll bet you 10 bucks they’ll do it again, too. By mistake, natch.
