Our friend Danny C. called up yesterday with a reminder of 2 different but related obits in the last few days.

Don LaFontaine, famous voice of the movie trailers, died at 68.

You may know him from his recent appearance for Geico:

LaFontaine also participated in a wonderful send-up of voice-overs for the movies done by 5 of the leading movie trailer voices actors. Those are his initials on the door of the limo:


Ike Pappas, a CBS news reporter for 25 years, has passed on also. Pappas was one of the notable voices in the news coverage of the Kennedy assassination, broadcasting live from the basement of the Dallas jail when Oswald was brought out:
