Can we finally restore Habeas Corpus?

Probably not, considering that the Democrats are actually Republican Lite, but it wouldn’t hurt to take a moment to sign a petition to restore what’s historically been viewed as the basic right of civilization. How grand to have our taxes going to Halliburton to “defend freedom” when United States citizens, alone amongst civilized countries, no longer have the right to challenge their arbitrary imprisonment in court.

Congress is about to consider dragging the United States out of the Republican muck – at least as far as allowing Bush to throw your ass into prison indefinitely with no explanation is concerned – and this petition might wake them up to the fact that they have responsibilities other than to figure out how to take money from lobbyists without getting caught.
