An interview with the me that used to be

An interview with the me that used to be

Jon Nelson produces and hosts a nationally syndicated radio show called Some Assembly Required. He's interested in "works of appropriation," and he's interviewed and worked with people like Negativeland, John Oswald, and Strictly Kev of DJ Food; in fact, Kev's masterful audio history of sampling - Raiding The 20th Century - cotains a piece of Jon's interview with me.

Jon interviewed me for his show several years ago, and has kindly put the production up on one of his websites. While my views about sampling, intellectual property, legality, and the general use of cultural artifacts in art has changed somewhat, it's wildly flattering to hear such a nice piece built around my ravings and my records.

And Jon doesn't stop there; he also curates an annual art shindig in the Minneapolis area called The Festival Of Appropriation where I'll be appearing this coming November 2nd, a Friday. If you're in the Minneapolis area and can appropriate some time and a ticket, please stop by.
